To calculate the ank, add the three digits of the pana, then keep only the last digit of the sum. Here are three examples: 128 gives 1+2+8 = 11, so the ank is 1. 347 gives 3+4+7 = 14, so the ank is 4. 550 gives 5+5+0 = 10, so the ank is 0.

The jodi is then the open ank followed by the close ank. If the open pana is 128 (ank 1) and the close pana is 347 (ank 4), the jodi is 14.
